Finding Your Energetic Equilibrium

Our yoga practice goes far beyond the physical postures; it provides us with tools and wisdom to navigate life. In last night’s class, we explored several meaningful themes that I encourage you to reflect on throughout your day and week.

  1. Breath and Energetic Harmony: We began our practice with Nadi Shodhana, or alternate nostril breathing, to stimulate a sense of mental and energetic balance between the feminine and masculine energies. Allowing the breath to anchor us into the present moment.

  2. Movement and Reflection: Synchronizing our breath with our movements, we experienced the expansive nature of the inhale and the softening with the exhale. Leading with curiosity as physical, mental, emotional and energetic sensations presented themselves.

  3. Releasing and Opening: As our practice transitioned into slower, passive postures, we focused on deep hip and shoulder openers. Creating a sense of space and allowing for the stored emotions and physical discomforts.

  4. Meditation and Equilibrium: From savasana, we moved into a seated meditation, focusing on the sensation of the breath in Nadi Shodhana. Observing the gentle ebb and flow of the breath, in through one nostril and out through the other. Finding a state of equilibrium, remaining present and connected to the moment.

Take your yoga practice with you off the mat and into your life. How can you incorporate these themes into all that you do. What is your relationship with the feminine and masculine energies within yourself? The feminine representing nurturing, receptive and receiving, with the masculine representing willpower, action, passion. Where in life can you give yourself permission to resist the urge to act and instead be patient and receptive?

I look forward to seeing you on Thursday. Use the link HERE to preregister and reserve your space. Life is unpredictable, last minute drop-ins are welcome, you can register when you arrive.

The balance of energies.

Yogic teachings bring awareness to the balance of feminine and masculine energies within. The feminine energy is nurturing, fluid, and receptive, while the masculine energy embodies movement, action, and passion. Both are essential in life, guiding us to know when to assert ourselves and take action and when to pause, be patient, and refrain from acting.

A sense of mental and energetic balance.

Our practice began with Nadi Shodhana, stimulating a sense of mental and energetic balance of the feminine and masculine.

Synchronizing our breath with our movements, our dynamic sequence encouraged us to explore all sensations along the right and left sides of the body. Providing us with the opportunity to reflect on our relationships with the feminine and masculine energies in our lives and within ourselves.

Witness to the present moment.

After a long nurturing savasana, we found our meditation seat and brought our awareness to the sensation of the breath in the nostrils. Experiencing the tide of breath in through one nostril and out through the other. Finding ourselves suspended in the middle. Witness to the present moment. The breath.

Inviting Nadi Shodhana into your yoga and meditation practice will bring a deeper sense of balance to your internal and external environments. Suspended between the breath we find balance within ourselves; knowing when to nurture, receive and rest and knowing when to assert authority and to take decisive action, offers us a balanced life. In the same way the exhale is as important as the inhale, to rest in life is equally as important as the work.

Inhale. Exhale. Repeat.
